Travelling to South Africa with a child

New South African regulations have just come into force, which require specific documentation to be produced before a child will be admitted into South Africa. In the most simple scenario, where a child is travelling with both biological parents, not only is the child’s passport needed, but also an unabridged birth certificate showing the names of the parents, which need to be the same as those in the passports of the travelling parents. More onerous requirements are set out for children travelling with one parent or with no parent, or where the child is adopted. Further details may be found on the South African government website:
